Lessons From a Tadpole

Tadpoles in a small pool of water in a nearly-dry stream-bed at Natural Bridge in Virginia. I took this on a 100 degree day. The water was cool and refreshing and so clear, and these little guys were so much fun to watch.

For whatever you are becoming – some words to think on:

“All things must change to something new, to something strange.”  ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

“Human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives.”  ~ William James

“We did not change as we grew older; we just became more clearly ourselves.”  ~ Lynn Hall

“Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.”  ~ Carol Burnett

“Things do not change; we change.”  ~ Henry David Thoreau

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”  ~ Mahatma Gandhi

“Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.”  ~ John Fitzgerald Kennedy

“It is only the wisest and the stupidest that cannot change.”  ~ Confucius

A short blog about images & chainsaw art: Please reply!

For the past three days, I’ve encouraged my readers here to write about the senses of smell, taste and touch.  Today’s the day for visual imagery – the one we writers tend to write about with the most ease.  However, I wanted to combine that concept with a visual treat that is taking place in my town this weekend:

The Thomasville, NC Echo International Chainsaw Carving Competition!

Yep, you read that right.

You have NOT lived until you’ve seen one of these!

So, I’m posting some photos from this competition.  Maybe you can write about one or more of them.

1.  Coffee donkey

2.  Catfish

3.  Chili pepper (bench)

4.  Crocodiles

5.  Tree frog

6.  Girl on a swing

7.  Shy peacock

8.  Dog in his house

9.  Tiki head w/nose ring

10.  Wolf howling at the moon

Hope you enjoyed the visual show!

Thanks!
